A Stairhall for Emily Carr
The birthplace of Emily Carr, renowned artist and author, was built by her father Richard Carr in the early 1860’s. The wooden, Italianate-style house is a National Historic Site. Stuart Stark & Associates have worked on two projects at this house. They have investigated the original finishes in the three main floor rooms, discovering the original paints, graining and wallpaper designs. The firm also restored the Entry and stairhall to its original appearance when the house was built, using original Victorian recipes and colours.
